Central American Adventure May 20

We went to an amazing place called La Paz Waterfall Gardens, appropriately named for the five huge, beautiful waterfalls that line a hiking trail.

At this park there is also bird, butterfly, reptile, frog, and wild cat habitat. The puma (Yay, Go Cougars!) jumped about 6 feet from a log down to the ground and did not make a sound when it landed. Pretty freaky!!

That evening we stayed at an old research station for volcano Arenal. We could hear the volcano erupting all night. This picture was taken while standing on our back balcony. The volcano covered the entire horizon and towered over the hotel. When the volcano was erupting, huge molten rocks would fly through the air, remaining air borne for up to 10 seconds at a time.

Central American Adventure May 18-19

We flew into San Jose, Costa Rica.

While not the most exciting stop on the trip, there were several beautiful places in the city.

We also got to practice our Spanish and I realized how unhelpful it is to know Spanish words for pain, vomit, and others that you might learn while spending all your time in an ER. We were introduced to the beans, chicken, and rice that we would not be able to escape for the next 3 weeks.

Central American Adventure

From May 18th-June 10th Joe and I had the awesome luck of being able to travel down to Central America. We spent the first 10 days in Costa Rica with my parents, sisters Jenni and Mindy, and their husbands Dustin and Nick. Then Joe and I continued on to Guatemala, Belize, and Cancun with Jenni and Dustin. Because it would be impossible for me to be so brief as to describe the trip in one post (plus I have about 3 bazillion pictures to sort through) I am going to chronicle our journey in the next few entries. First of all . . .

Here is a map of our trip through Costa Rica.

Congratulations Kristi and Derek!

Just have to give a shout out to Kristi and Derek who successfully got married yesterday (is there an unsuccessful way?) . . .

Anyway, I also need to give a shout out to my amazing mom and myself as we successfully made their wedding cake, even after a lot of stress and last minute design changes.

I'll post some pictures later.

Kristi and Derek, we love you guys!

Getting Anxious . . .

My cutie husband is flying into Salt Lake (from Hawaii and a civil engineering conference) in 30 min. Because I have been missing him like crazy this week and because I am getting nothing else done as I anxiously wait for him to get home, I decided to post a couple of pictures that make me happy and remind me of the wonderful trip that we had last summer with our friends Mike and Jen.

Now there are only 28 minutes until his flight lands . . .

Why I Love Provo

Feeling a little bored the other day, I decided to go for a little bike ride. . . that's when I stumbled across this. . .

and this . . .

And I remembered that Provo River Parkway Trail is amazing!!!

I had fun pretending I am a photographer even with my little pocket sized Cannon.

Finally, I ended up here . . . and I realized that riding my bike on a dock makes me motion sick (I nearly fell in)

Okay. . . no I didn't

. . . even I am not that clumsy.
